Instructor

Birgit has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Clemson University. She worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Savannah, Georgia, and after marrying her husband, Lucky, moved to Columbia, SC and worked for 7 years with SC Dept. of Health and Environmental Control in Environmental Permitting in the Industrial Wastewater Division. When her second child was born, she felt the call to stay home. Birgit has taught at the elementary, middle, and high school levels as part of a homeschool cooperative and then joined instructors at Dutch Fork Homeschool Resource Center. She has taught math, science, and social studies. She has enjoyed working with AWANA, Ladies Bible Studies, and Good News Clubs. The McDades are members of Dutch Fork Baptist Church. Birgit enjoys walking her dogs, hiking and being outdoors, reading, and Bible Study.
